Join us for a thought-provoking conversation on the current state of the left between two leading Barcelona-based political scientists, Eva Anduiza Perea and Umut Özkırımlı. Taking the recent electoral gains of far right parties and actors as a starting point, Anduiza and Özkırımlı will discuss the challenges growing polarization and inequalities pose to our fragile democracies, focusing not only on the past and the present – how did we get here? – but also on the future, or the question of “what is to be done?”.
About the speakers:
Eva Anduiza Perea is a professor of political science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and an ICREA Academia research fellow. She founded and directed the research group on Democracy, Elections, and Citizenship until 2023 and has coordinated the Master in Political Science program for nearly a decade.
